2024 cycle updates

We made several changes to our systems for statutory HESA data returns (StarJ), Confirmation and Clearing (C&C) 2023, and the 2024 cycle for UCAS Undergraduate and UCAS Conservatoires.

SOC 2020 data for HESA returns

We started gathering SOC 2020 data on UK domiciled applicant’s parental occupations at the start of the 2022 cycle and changes were implemented in June 2021 to allow you to receive this from us.

The second phase of this delivery is to make the data available for HESA returns and this will be delivered during 2022. The technical briefing document was issued last year ahead of the changes and has been updated to reflect the delivery of the second phase into our test environments.

Updating UK establishment groups and types

UCAS is updating its existing classifications for schools and colleges, aligning to those used by the Department for Education and the Welsh and Scottish governments. The change will be incorporated from the 2024 cycle (go live May 2023), please note no action or technical changes required by providers.

Providers can access the schools and colleges data via the normal route – eg web-link. For reference, UCAS will provide a list of schools/colleges with old and new classifications

Please circulate these changes at your provider to ensure the changes have been considered for reporting purposes.
